The next generation gaming consoles are definitely some serious machines. Although with a lot of similarity, Microsoft and Sony have really brought their A-game this year to stay on top of the gaming industry. We will look at the price, release dates and most importantly, specs of both gaming consoles to see which one is worth the wait and buy.

THE PLAYSTATION 4
At the PS4 release conference, fans were happy to hear that the next generation PS would allow used games, disc sharing and not require any sort of online check-in. This is really a step up for Sony because Microsoft's Xbox One, has presented a confusing message as to its daily internet check-ins, used games policy and loaning out of discs. One more blow that the PlayStation offered the Xbox was the cheaper price, at only $399, while the Xbox is priced at $499.

The design of the PlayStation 4 has completely changed from it's predecessors. I feel like Sony combined the best of the PS3 and Xbox 360 in modelling this version. The sloped edges and the matte finish give the console an elegant, eye-catching look. Its USB ports, power and eject switches are well placed from eye view to maintain that uniform elegant look.
The controller also got a major upgrade. Again I feel like Sony looked towards the Xbox 360's controller design for inspiration, which is definitely the best controller I have ever used. The system will however ship with one controller, and other controllers will be available for purchase separately.

The system will include the following for shipping:  the console with a 500GB hard drive, one controller, a HDMI cable, and an earbud headset for voice chat. The PlayStation Camera, which was launched to rival the Xbox's Kinect, will be available  for $59.99.

THE XBOX ONE
The design of the new Xbox is more boxy and simple than that of the PlayStation. The front only has the new well thought of disc drive that replaces the old flimsy disk tray of the Xbox 360. The back of the console is where Microsoft dumped all the ports, eight to be exact, maintaining a minimalistic and elegant look on the front of the console. The Xbox one plays Blu-ray, an attempt to play catch up with Sony.
The Xbox One also has amazing voice command that gives it that X-factor. You don't need to switch inputs with your remote to access Xbox anymore, all you have to do is say 'Xbox, game'. All of these new tech features are built into the new Kinect which also includes a camera. Unlike the PS4's eye, the Kinect comes in the box with the console. The Xbox which has been priced at a $499 price point is also obviously a great gaming console, but with most restrictions that come with the Xbox, I would guess most people would opt to go for the cheaper and less restricted, prettier PS4.
