They say almost doesn’t count. Well guess what I am rewriting the rules, yes, almost does count. Kenya beat some major teams in the Rugby Sevens World Cup, France and Samoa. The game that shattered the Kenyan team was England vs Kenya, for the semi-finals.  It was a good battle; it started off well and could have ended well till the rains came. Africans are not good with the rain and when it decided to pour in the Semi-final game between Kenya and England, one team obviously had an unfair advantage – (call it as you may but that’s how I see it). Dan Norton's first half brace and Christian Lewis-Pratt's sole conversion saw England take a 12-0 first half lead on the waterlogged playing Luzhniki surface. However our boys were not ones to give up, they fought to the end despite the sliding and the slipping. Kenya skipper Andrew Amonde managed the to score at the second half, gathering a Lavin Asego kick and scoring a try that reduced the deficit to seven points. What about the magnificent play by Willie Ambaka embarking on his trade mark length of the field run, only to be stopped twice by Norton with the try line beckoning.  The final score was 12-5. Yes we were so close, no let me rephrase that, we made it because we had the spirit and the endeavor, and once again the Kenyan rugby team was able to unite us all as Kenyans and that’s the best trophy that they could bring home.
